Carl Sandburg: A Biography covers the life of the American poet and author. From his beginnings growing up in Galesburg, Illinois as the son of Swedish immigrants, to his death in 1967 at the age of 89, this book covers it all. The book takes the reader on the journey from Sandburg's young adult life as a soldier, college student, salesman, and aspiring orator and poet; through his family years with his wife, and life-long love Paula, and his daughters. Also covered in great detail is Sandburg's public life as a poet, writer and biographer with a constant drive to pioneer experiment and create. From 1900 until 1967, Sandburg's voice addresses the pivotal events of the twentieth century.
